The Western Galilee partnership of the Jewish Agency for Israel and the IACC in Akko jointly operates the Young Leadership Program, which is called “All 2Gether Now.” This is a group of outstanding 11th-graders from the Amit Kennedy and ORT Drasky high schools, which deals with content relating to Jewish identity, Israel public diplomacy, contributing to the community and more. This year the group joined forces with two youth groups from two Jewish communities in the United States, in South Bend and Northwest Indiana.
The teens from both sides of the ocean carry out the same volunteer activities in their local communities, and afterwards they compare what they have done through Skype calls, and upload photos and stories on Facebook.
Ahead of the Passover holiday a team of eight young people from the Jewish Community Young Leadership Group of the Western Galilee partnership will fly out to meet their peers across the ocean, and will serve as young ambassadors from the Western Galilee in general, and particularly from Akko.
Over the Chanukah holiday the “All 2Gether Now” youth group volunteered at the Beit Hakashish home for the aged. Keren Gaon, facilitator for the Israeli group, told about the profound sense of giving felt by all of the youths. “Youth groups all over the world have a tremendous power to influence the local community. The activities carried out by the ‘All 2Gether Now’ group on behalf of the Akko community are greatly appreciated, even by our partners across the ocean.”
